Friendship in courtship
Ensure to develop friendship with your partner during courtship. How do you cope with someone that isn't your close friend in a life-long relationship like marriage? Living in the same house with someone that isn't your friend in an intimate relationship as marriage may be described as little hell with boredom and loneliness being the order of the day; everyone will just be fulfilling their obligation while dying inside. Some would then find solace in children, friends, relatives or even slip into extramarital affairs; as we are all emotional beings and want to connect with someone heart to heart (Proverbs 27:17).
However, it is very possible to develop pseudo-intimacy with your partner during courtship because it's the period of heightened emotion; especially if sexual activities are involved. You think you are very close and well knitted only for you to realise that you've only developed lust all along and not friendship. Remember, solid friendship between you is one of the factors that will keep your marriage rosy even in the face of declining libido as you grow older!
