Registered Home Address? (Part 1)
Few months ago, I relocated to a new accommodation but both the former and the new are in the same estate; just two streets away from eachother. Few weeks before I left, I was expecting a parcel to be delivered but it delayed. Although I ought to inform the organisation (that was to send the parcel to me) of my change of address, I decided to just inform the landlady about it so that she could sign and receive it for me when it arrives. Some days after my departure, the parcel was delivered but there was none to sign for it. The courier agent met the landlady’s absence while the new tenant (who was not formerly informed) refused to sign for it; stating that he didn’t know the addressee. Consequently, the parcel was returned.
When I was informed, I contacted the courier and gave them my new address; stressing that it is just two streets away but they insisted they could only deliver it to the address given, and advised that I should inform the organisation so that they could be instructed accordingly. Hence I did so (a process I was avoiding!) in order for the parcel to be delivered. A parcel that should normally be delivered not later than three months after request then spent an extra month because I was not present at my registered home address. From this issue, I deduced a fact which I would like to share with you.
Just as we all have houses where we live and anyone that wants to visit or make deliveries calls in, God has also assigned us to different churches (I call this our local church) where every area of our lives will be nurtured and we will be equipped to fulfil the purpose for our existence. The church is the body of Christ, and any church once ordained by God; is well regarded by heaven, and God leads men to join themselves to each of the churches. Your portion will be given to you via your local church but this does not mean you can’t listen to other pastors that you are sure of their right standing with God because they are all gifts to the body of Christ. However, remember that no matter how kind your uncles could be to you, your father remains your father and your inheritance lies with him alone. The former could only give you gifts but your major/critical portions do not lie with them.
Only God knows how many blessings, answers and portions are returned to heaven at the end of church services because the addressees were not at their registered ‘home’ addresses for one reason or the other. Identifying your local church and pastor is your responsibility! Diligently seek God’s face and He will surely lead you. I remember how I sought His face just before I completed my first degree as I knew my life depended on it, and I’m not regretting it today. Nobody invited me there, I searched and found it! You may want to resent having to be led by God before settling in a local church but don’t forget that you didn’t choose the biological family to belong to, the same applies to the spiritual family. God is the determinant of these two and He is sovereign about them; depending on His purpose for creating you. Hence, it does not matter who or what I might not like in my church, if I cannot disown my biological family for any reason then my spiritual family is no difference.
