Registered Home Address? (Part 2)
(Continued from Part 1)
Also, you may want to say this is the church your parents attend and you have been there since you were born, infact you are the choirmaster/mistress, hence can’t leave for another church; despite being sure you don’t belong there. With due respect, may I ask you that if your father raised his family in Ghana, must you compulsorily raise yours in Ghana as well? Another person may say, this is the church my husband attends; hence this is where God wants us to be. Please have you ever asked him whether God wants him there or not? What actually informed his decision of settling in that church? The question of ‘which church to attend?’ is a critical question that must be answered correctly because that is where your portions; your own things; will be sent to. That is your registered 'home' address in heaven!
My spiritual father would say, in every decision you want to make in life, first ensure you get it RIGHT, and then start getting BETTER in it. Therefore, after you are sure of the local church to join yourself to and you have done so, start submitting to the structure of the church. That is, go through all trainings and take up assignments. These are what make you! No material becomes a product without going through a process, and mostly, raw materials are good-for-nothing until they are processed. You can’t compare crude oil and petrol, or gold and its ore in their usefulness! Never wait to be cajoled to attend church programmes or to take up assignments. Church by personal understanding and don’t remain a new member for long; waiting to be encouraged for months before becoming devoted.
I belong to a local church where the pastor does not cajole you to come to church. He would say, ‘Standing in front to preach to you is my responsibility while sitting in church to listen to God’s word is your responsibility, each one will give account before God. I won’t be responsible for you. In life, church is the school, God is the lecturer, and the devil is the examiner (who is not lenient at all!), so, if you like take your lectures serious, if you like don’t, the devil awaits you out there. In the University, it does not matter if you attend lectures or not, but you must write exams when due. Hence, choose whether to attend lectures or not.’
In addition, no matter who you don’t like in the church or what aspect of the administration seems too stringent for you, never let leaving be your next option. No seedling becomes a tree by moving from one plot to the other but it remains on the same spot where it is planted and takes up nutrients for its growth. While in school, I’m sure you didn’t quit your class because of an ill-mannered classmate or the stringent protocols of your lecturers. Hence, church is no difference. Whenever you are put off by an issue in church, talk to yourself, ‘You this issue, you are too small to stop me from having what God has for me here.’ Ask God for a large heart and wisdom to intelligently accommodate everyone and everything you meet in your local church. Keep no offence at all and you will become who God wants you to be.
